Today, let's focus on ways you can practice stress management in your day to day life. There are so many different healthy ways to manage your stress. Yes, often we're drawn to ways that are not quite as healthy, but it's important to maintain a personal list of options that you can choose from. Often, mental health and wellness professionals recommend that you have a "toolbox" or a list of options to choose from that is accessible to you in an area where you'll see it. This is often recommended because when your brain goes into a stress-response mode, it's hard to think clearly and logically. How do you manage your stress? Did you know stress relief can be fun? Check out the link below for 7 Fun Stress Relieving Activities that you can try. And remember -- It's the last full week of our challenge! Don't forget to log your activities! We don't have any particular prize drawing challenge this week. Sam has some fun in store for Friday instead. It's Stress Awareness Saturday!You may or may not be aware that May is widely known as Mental Health Awareness Month. Check out the slide below to see some common symptoms to look for if you or someone you know is struggling with their mental health.
Don't hesitate to reach out to someone if you need help. The number at the bottom of today's slide is for the Maryland Youth Crisis Hotline. There are also national resources and hotlines available. Call a hotline, find a therapist, or find someone you trust in your life to talk to. If you see someone who is struggling, please reach out. Ask them if they are okay. Ask if there is anything you can do to help. Support yourself AND others. This Week's Challenge: This week's challenge is going to be a little bit different. Week one, you were challenged to dress up and upload pictures. Week two, you were challenged to get out there and log activities. This week, I want to send you to our website, particularly to our blog. Did you know that every one of these daily posts also shows up in the "Content" portion of our website? It's set up as a blog, which also means you can comment on each individual post. Your challenge this week is to check out the posts and interact with us. Leave us some comments. We're over a year into the pandemic, but sometimes it still feels like there are new and exciting twists and turns to throw us off-course. You may find that you're going into a whole new layer of stress and anxiety from the limitations placed on you right now, especially if you, like us, thrive in the big events of the summer and feel like you're missing out again this year.
Hang in there and be aware of how you're feeling. Find ways to improve your mood and distract yourself when you're feeling the stress. And remember, it's okay to get help. Reach out to someone if it gets to be just too much. |
